Sheerness West Federation

Look at the fun learning that we have been doing this term so far …

It’s all about Pirates and treasure in our topic this term and we have been busy planning and writing our stories – will our pirate characters find where X marks the spot and sail away with the treasure?

Linked to this we have designed and made Treasure Island maps, with keys and lots of features that will shiver your timbers!

For DT, we have investigated which materials and items float or sink, and using our results we have designed, made, evaluated and produced our fabulous rafts – fit for any pirate bringing the treasure back to the ship.

As always we have been using our reasoning skills, this term to recognise the place value of numbers to 2 decimal places, and comparing and rounding these numbers. We have also solved problems using all 4 operations using what we have learnt. At the moment we are busy developing our skills based around money.

In science we are learning about the Digestive System, including a couple of fun investigations. Have you taken the dry cracker challenge?

For RE we are studying the beliefs and principles of Hinduism and linking these to the important steps in our own lives, our aims for the future and duties.

And of course, just as importantly we have been gardening, bird watching, baking, dancing, reading, singing, completing art projects and generally enjoying a wide range of activities with our families at home.
