Sheerness West Federation

We have a wide variety of different cultures and languages across the Federation. We aim to support children and their parents via age and experience appropriate methods.

English language classes are available at Rose Street for parents who would like to improve their English.

Parents are encouraged to support the use and comprehension of languages used at home.

Links to learning support for children and parents will be provided in due course.

Ways to increase your vocabulary

Playing Articulate is great fun: You can get the English version & play a bilingual version, which helps improve your comprehension in both languages. Either provide the word or explanation in the other language.

Read, read, read… Look for bilingual or translated books to start with.

http://www.eslgamesplus.com/  This site will give you some basic vocabulary for those just starting out. It does include other aspects as well.

Do you need help with grammar?

http://www.englishmedialab.com/grammar_games.html  This is solely grammar focused. So, if there are specific areas you need to work on, try this!

Colloquialism and beyond…

http://www.vocabulary.co.il/idioms/ Here you can discover all those weird phrases that you hear and realised they weren’t meant literally!
