Breakfast Club
Mon 15 Jun 2026The breakfast club was also a bustling hub of activity this week, with children enjoying a range of exciting breakfasts and playing some different sports and playground games. A big thank you as always to the breakfast staff team for organising all the additional breakfast choices and to Miss Ovenden and Mr Crosby for leading the sports activities – they did a sterling job and the children have really enjoyed these additional activities.

Sports Days Week 1
Mon 15 Jun 2026It was lovely to see so many children enjoying themselves at Sports Day in Years 2, 4 and 5 at Rose Street with so many parents coming along to show their support. We also enjoyed celebrating Sports Day with our children and families in the Meadows at West Minster on Wednesday. It really helps to make the occasion so memorable for the children.

Varsity capture the Flag

21 children took part in this terms capture the flag varsity against Rose
Street, the results were;
Year 1/2 - West Minster win
Year 3/4 - Rose Street win
Year 5/6 - West Minster win
Overall result = West minster win 2-1 -
Lioness Jill Scott
Mon 08 Jun 2026Today 17 children from school were lucky to experience a day of football
training and activities with former Lioness Jill Scott, who won the euros
with the England ladies 🏆Which was absolutely fantastic! The children
spent the day taking part in different football challenges, meeting and
speaking with Jill on numerous occasions, getting their shirts, medals
and football boots signed and also being interviewed!
As this event was sponsored by Nike and Sports direct, all children that
took part received a free pair of Astro turf boots, T-shirt and socks to
keep, as well as a goodie bag! All the children were so excited and had a
fantastic time, what an amazing opportunity! -
Year R
Mon 08 Jun 2026Term 6 in Reception is children’s choice and this week the children
chose to make some summer arts and crafts. We have made jellyfish,
created some pointillism paintings of the beach, made crabs and
designed our own ice lollies. -
No Pen Day
Mon 01 Jun 2026On Wednesday it was NO PENS DAY and in Year 1 we were very creative, we acted out the story of Little Lord Feather Frock in Literacy and we practically found a quarter of a quantity in maths.
In Year 2 on “No pens day” we took the opportunity to learn about the work of
Jackson Pollock. He created some amazing art using unusual techniques and so did we. Please ask us how we created our art work!Year 3 for ‘No Pen day’, using pasta to communicate in morse code, having a cup
stacking competition and playing the 'yes, no' game. The children were thrilled at the idea of no writing for the day!Year 4 really enjoyed our ‘No Pen Day’ activities. During our times tables challenge, we worked with partners to chant multiplication facts and quickly find the answers. We also used our communication skills when classifying animals into different groups.
Year 5 for No Pen Day, the children investigated the features of Viking longships before designing and creating their own models out of cardboard. They were delighted with their finished products and should be very proud of their creativity
and teamwork! -
Year R Supertato
Mon 18 May 2026This week in Reception, we have been exploring the story ‘Supertato’ . We have been turning ourselves into superheroes and thinking about what our superpower would be, creating superhero comic strips, writing letters to the evil pea after he stole our reward jar and learning all about patterns. During our exploring time we have loved measuring superheroes footprints using the rulers and cubes and creating some beautiful observational drawings of the vegetables from the story.

Mon 04 May 2026On Thursday we played our 4 varsity of the year against Rose Street to celebrate our termly after-school club of Basketball. th The results were; Year 1-2: West Minster 4-0 Rose Street Year 3-4: West Minster 3-4 Rose Street Year 5-6: West Minster 0-0 Rose Street (West Minster won 1-0 on a penalty shootout) Overall result: West Minster 2-1 Rose Street
