This week we were delighted to welcome our brand-new nursery class, Dandelions, for a special visit! The children had a lovely time exploring their new classroom, meeting their teachers, and beginning to make new friends. We can’t wait to see them again soon as they start their exciting nursery journey with us!

This week, the children took part in a joyful celebration of Holi – the festival of colours! ๐ฎ๐ณโจThey learned about the traditions and stories behind Holi, and how itis celebrated around the world with colour, music, and happiness. Through creative activities and thoughtful discussion, the children explored the values of kindness, togetherness, and joy that Holi represents. ๐๐๐A wonderful opportunity to learn about different cultures and share in the spirit of celebration!

Texas Day

This week, the children celebrated Texas Day in true southern style! From line dancing to delicious Mexican food, the day was bursting with culture, flavour, and fun.
๐ต Children learned and performed some energetic line dancing routines, showing off their rhythm and team spirit.
๐ฎ After lunch, they enjoyed tasting a variety of Mexican-inspired dishes, exploring the rich cultural influence Texas shares with its southern neighbour.
A big well done to everyone who joined in with such enthusiasm — we even saw some brilliant cowboy hats and boots! What a fabulous day!

We were so proud to recognise children who have shown exceptional effort, progress, resilience, kindness and enthusiasm across the year. Whether it was for academic success, sporting achievement, creativity or being a role model to others – every award was truly well deserved.
A huge well done to all of our winners and a big thank you to all the staff, families and friends who joined us to celebrate. ๐๐
It was a wonderful way to end the year on a high – filled with smiles, cheers and proud moments all round!

Year 4 Create habitats from Recyclable Materials!
Tue 15 Jul 2025This week, Year 4 built their very own habitats using recyclable materials!
The project helped raise awareness about sustainability and the importance of reusing everyday materials. It was brilliant to see the creativity, teamwork and problem-solving on display as pupils turned waste into wonderful works of art!
Well done Year 4 – what a fantastic way to help the planet and show off your design skills!

We are incredibly proud to announce that West Minster Primary School has been awarded the prestigious School Games Platinum Award for the very first time! ๐
After achieving the Gold Award for six consecutive years, this year we’ve reached the highest level possible—Platinum! This award is only given to a small number of schools nationwide and recognises our long-term commitment to physical activity, sport, and wellbeing for all children.
Our PE Team completed a detailed case study to show how we ensure every pupil gets 60 active minutes a day, and we were praised for:

Year 3 Vegetable tarts

Year 3 have been busy in the kitchen this week, making delicious vegetable tarts! Using prepared pastry, the children chose from a selection of fresh vegetables and carefully chopped and arranged their toppings to create colourful, healthy tarts. They showed great care and creativity — and the results looked (and smelled!) amazing. Well done, Year 3 chefs!
